Night Of The Proms 2009

The premiere of the 25th Night of the Proms edition in Antwerp(B), with Roxette, Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark, Toots Thielemans, Peter and Zoltan Katona, John Miles and more was highly appreciated! There are some very small issues that need some attention, but it was really a great show! Although it was very stress-full sometimes with more than 20 photographers on a small place between the catwalk and the crowd! But hey… that’s part of the job! No?

Afro-Latino Festival 11th edition… part two

It’s getting cold in the morning… winter-season is coming, and I’m still presenting summer-festival pictures! But I’ve promised it in the first part that there will be more to come… well here it is! Enjoy the photos and dream away… of a still not forgotten beautiful summer!

All photos are from the afro-Latino festival in Belgium. But that was maybe already crystal clear! Not?

Above we had the group around Oscar d’Leon from Venezuela!

And here we have Sindicato Sonico. Members are from Mexico and Belgium and with there latin-rock and mariachi they swept the floor pretty good!

Here we have Ky-Mani Marley, one of the 12 (read: twelve!) children from Bob Marley. He gave us several classics in a tribute and off course a lot of his own work! Reggae still rules man…

And last but not least… The guys from La Excelencia! With there salsa dura, they kicked some ass here on the festival! They have also a great website… So, when you are interested in their music, feel free to visit!

I like Tattoos too! I like to watch to Tattoos on other people… Fem Von V has a lot of Tattoos! That’s what I like about her! And every Tattoo has his own story and/or reason! That’s really very interesting to hear…

25th Night Of The Proms 2009 – Press Conference

Yesterday (thursday september 10th) I was invited by the founder of the Belgian fan website of the NOTP to make some pictures on the 25th press conference for their site! With BIG names like OMD, Roxette, Toots Thielemans, Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Peter and Zoltan Katona, John Miles, the choir ‘Fine Fleur’, Il Novecento with Robert Groslot, I think this years edition will be a BIG spectacle!

In this post I will only put 3 pictures of ‘Toots’, a living Jazz-legend, Thielemans! The rest is off course for the fan-site…

JetAir Fly

Our photoclub ‘Klik-Klak‘ at Zaventem has a good relationship with the Belgian airline ‘JetAir Fly‘. And for the coming exhibition of the club we went to the airfield, to make some nice pictures with a Boeing 737-500 from JetAir. The final picture… You have to wait a little bit longer… But here you can already enjoy some other impressions!

A wedding… always beautiful to see, always nice to make pictures of a young couple that says YES to each other! Here I have some pictures of a freshly married couple… enjoy!

Ferrum – UPDATE

Today, the kids could choose for themselves where we went for our last day before the new school-season starts. They came up with a trip to a museum, a playground or a visit to the ‘Atomium’. We decided to go to one of our Belgian national monuments.

The ‘Atomium’ is a symbol of the atom concept, because it represents an iron crystal (Ferrum), magnified 165 billion times. In this crystal system, the atoms are placed on the vertexes of a cube, and one atom occupies its center. The elementary centered cubic system is composed of 9 atoms. So far the technical part of the ‘Atomium’.

It’s not only stupid, sad and idiot. It’s mainly collecting money from those who just want to show off with some nice photo’s of such a national monument! Thank you very much SABAM, VZW Atomium and the family Waterkeyn. I know as a photographer that you are proud of your work etc. But every picture I’ve placed on the BIG internet is already stolen as well… Nobody even asks me if they may use my work after all! But hey, I’m just a simple photographer…

Maybe this picture is allowed, because the ‘Atomium’ is on the background and the main object is my family…

Afro-Latino Festival 11th edition… part one

It was good, hell it was fantastic! This years edition was a well balanced mix of high quality groups and artists! Well done you guys and girls! And the Global Dance on friday was cool too! Wauw!

And this years edition was also a good year, because I had a good group of enthusiastic photographers who were very excited to make ‘the photo’ of the festival! Thanks to you all! Youth Camp

It’s starting to get a tradition… making some nice pictures just before my beloved ones go for their annual youth camp.

Starting three years ago as a funny picture… is now a question “hey dad we must make that picture before we leaving tomorrow”!

So we went to a wheat field nearby and with the sun going down… a good place to make those pictures.

Air shows… Koksijde (B) & Volkel (NL)

I feel the need… the need for speed!

With this one-liner in my head I went to two air shows, one in Volkel (The Netherlands) and one in Koksijde (Belgium)! I’m not a spotter as such, but I like the speed and sound of those jets and planes! Also the whole atmosphere at an air show, attracts me. And off course… when you are there with good friends, that makes everything complete!

All the images above are taken at the Volkel (NL) Air Base. This is one of several military airfields in the Netherlands.

Next series of pictures are taken at Koksijde (B) Air Base and that is a military airfield in Belgium.

Lura

Hot temperatures, nice people, tasty cocktails, good atmosphere, great food and last but not least: breathtaking music… This is a short review of what is for already eleven years a splendid festival. Somewhere in the north-east part of Limburg, in a small town called Opitter, is every year transformed to the centre for a mix of fantastic afro-latino vibes!

Pointe

“En pointe or just pointe is a form of ballet presented on the tips of the toes.

Girls must be at least twelve years of age before going en Pointe. This is because their toe bones are still soft and could be injured very badly.” quote taken from wikipedia.

I loved working with this beautiful dancer very much! We had a small timeframe where we could work in, and still she managed to give more than 100% of herself to this photoshoot! Thanks! Working with a ballet dancer is always great, because they know their body so well!
