Lura

Hot temperatures, nice people, tasty cocktails, good atmosphere, great food and last but not least: breathtaking music… This is a short review of what is for already eleven years a splendid festival. Somewhere in the north-east part of Limburg, in a small town called Opitter, is every year transformed to the centre for a mix of fantastic afro-latino vibes!

Pointe

“En pointe or just pointe is a form of ballet presented on the tips of the toes.

Girls must be at least twelve years of age before going en Pointe. This is because their toe bones are still soft and could be injured very badly.” quote taken from wikipedia.

I loved working with this beautiful dancer very much! We had a small timeframe where we could work in, and still she managed to give more than 100% of herself to this photoshoot! Thanks! Working with a ballet dancer is always great, because they know their body so well!

May 1st Parade @ Genk

Today, May 1st, like every year for 60 years already, there is a parade in Genk. Every year there is also a flower queen. Many people come to see this parade. Like most years… the weather was good!

Pure… (UPDATE)

Pure… that was the first word that came into my mind when I saw those photo’s on my laptop. There is not that much to say about those photo’s… You like them or you don’t! But for me is this form of pure nudity the most beautiful form of nude artistic photography!

So, just enjoy!

Colour Temperature Orange!?!

Last sunday I had a great shooting day with the guys and girl from Apertura! Together with a very friendly model we went to the old building from the coal mines in Waterschei. It was not that warm, even with the sun popping up from time to time… My idea was to shoot some nice photo’s with a dramatic sky and the model, and this while using a new goodie… a CTO-filter (thanks to Michel for lending it). My model didn’t felt much to go outside… so I had to postpone my little project a bit.

Later that evening when I was home… great idea… I put the kids in front of my camera, and with the light measured and everything in position I took two shots! And I know… to much dark blue, because I used a full CTO! But it adds also a certain atmosphere to the photo’s, as like they where taken in the very late evening with a ordinary flash. So I like to experiment a little bit more and ordered a small set at FlashGels in the UK.

 

 

Photo shoot @ “De Venkel”

Due to a few very busy weeks… I have a delay on updating my blog. But here we are! This time I have some pictures from a shoot with the photo club Apertura! The location for this shoot is the beautiful “salons” called “De Venkel” in Kortenberg. The owner was prepared to let us use a part of his location. Thanks! Although the start was not so smooth, everything went better during the shoot!

Also special thanks to Jurrie, who was willing to work together with me to organize this photo shoot! And Bob for his strobist tips!

fnac service sucks BIG time!

Last week I went to the fnac-store in Leuven. I was looking for a new wireless switch/router, to expand my home network a little bit! I rapidly found what I was looking for, and paid 119,99€! Happy as I was, I drove quickly home and opened the box. And there it hit me really hard… Damm you stupid one… I bought the wrong type! I had an ADSL-type in my hand and not the cable-version that I needed. But, no problem. Tomorrow I go back and trade it for the good one. I closed the box, kept the bill very carefully.

So, one day later, there I was in the fnac again… I waited at a desk, till someone asked if he could help me. I told him the story that I bought the wrong type etc. He interrupted me with the question if the switch was not damaged? I told him that I opened the box and immediately saw that it was the wrong type. But he told me that the box was open, and there was no way the trade it for something else or to return the money! I calmly told him that he could look into the box to verify its contents to ensure himself that I was telling him the truth. But he repeated his already famous sentence: ‘the box is open’! Not willing to give up, I repeated also that I didn’t do anything with the switch. And suddenly he started to raise his voice! I told him that I was the client and that it was not done to start shouting at me. He was not prepared to change his point of view, and I thanked him very much for the bad service from fnac!

Angry as I was I went to the Apple-store in Leuven and bought me an Airport Extreme. The price is a little bit higher, but you get an USB connection instead, witch can be used to connect a printer to your network or a hard disk! Thanks to those two friendly Apple guys! Back home I installed the Apple switch in no time! I have now a wireless network and I’m waiting for my brand new Mac Book Pro! Hallelujah!

Then my neighbor came with a ‘pattex’ idea! Just glue the box and return it! So I did, and the day afterwards, my most beloved one went back to the fnac and came out with hard cash! YES! Or is this because it’s a she and not a he? Maybe!

What do we have learned from this encounter?

1. You won’t see me back in an fnac-store!

2. Watch carefully what you buy, if you are willing to buy something from an fnac-store!

3. Never trust a ‘nerd’-looking employee from an fnac-store!

A camera horny cat…

… or how I met this girl!

In a previous post called “Decadance” I’ve met several interesting people at a club in Brussels. I told them to keep in touch, if they want to work with me, for a photo shoot. The first who sent me a mail after only one week… was she. We made an appointment in a studio and this is the result. She never ever did a shoot before.

When she arrived at the studio, she was almost directly at her ease! We had only two hours to shoot, because she had to go home on time…

Pillow girl (continued)…

On one of my earlier posts called ‘Pillow girl…’ I had posted only one photo. This is simple to less for such a great shooting event we had on that rainy day in November last year! Yesterday, I had the time to finish off several more pictures. Again, this photo shoot organized by Apertura was a challenge, because the place was so stuffed up with beautiful accessories, that there was sometimes barely place for photographer to take a good position. We had also look out for a good set-up for our lights and other gear! But isn’t that what we photographers always have to do? I think so, yes. But never the less, here is the result of that shooting day. Enjoy!

Wintertime…

 

After more than 15 days of extreme cold weather, we and our friends, the Kalus family had the opportunity to go one the ice today. The frozen pond at the abbey from Heverlee looked fine, not to much people on the ice…   

So the kids and my precious went quick on the ice with there ice-skates on.

Alternately we pulled the sledge, the kids loved it and shouted for more… I had the time to took some snapshots.

After two full hours of ‘fun on ice’ we went home with a dripping nose but also with a feeling of great satisfaction!

A child is Born…

… on december 19th in the year 2008!

Her name is ELISA.

The father Tom, my brother in law and his wife Monika are very happy with there second child.

Little brother Xander is still a little bit confused… But what do you want, with all those people who are suddenly visiting mammy and little baby sister.

As the godfather of Elisa, I’m very proud too! 

 

Merry Christmas everybody out there… May you all find what you are looking for!

And that 2009 will give you all the joy that you need to live a happy life!

Pillow girl…

Almost every month, we go out and do a photo shoot with the photo club Apertura. Because the risk of cold and rainy weather in November we went to an inside location. Glenn arranged the location at Charrell. Bob, he found several models willing enough to come over on a cocoon-Sunday! Thanks Bob, thanks Glenn!

I was lucky to use some gear (triggers, soft boxes, umbrella’s etc.) from several friend photographers of the club, thanks guys! I appreciate that very much. And last but not least: thank you very much Julie for your endless amount of patience with me…
